As the long-term production partner for leading global research, media, and events organisation Hurun Australasia, Scope has been repeatedly commissioned to design powerful, high-end awards events that showcase the global visibility of this prestigious wealth-creation organisation. Across a multi-year partnership, we have consistently pushed creative and technical boundaries to transform major venues into immersive, theme-driven worlds that prioritise sensory guest experiences that engage and delight.
For the Hordern Pavilion annual gala, Scope worked closely with Hurun to encapsulate a ‘dream’ theme, crafting an ethereal yet luxury experience for 460 guests from Australian and international business, cultural, and philanthropic communities. This venue has a 1000-pax capacity, but a decision was made to prioritise guest experience over room density. The architectural layout featured highly stylised, winding banquet tables that curved gracefully toward a centralised main stage and a giant LED screen, and each table was styled with luxurious centrepieces, crystal and silver dining ware, and high-end gifts from La Prairie.
Overhead, intricate custom light installation works were programmed to sparkle in synchrony with live performances and award segments, while oversized custom-designed ‘paper planes’ with hand-written dream-scape words floated above the space, capturing the whimsical narrative of the theme.
At its core, this immersive environment was designed to evoke a powerful personal journey, a whimsical, nostalgic atmosphere designed to provide high-achieving guests a rare opportunity to step back from their current realities, look inward, and reconnect with their younger selves. By blending these sentimental elements with high-end luxury, the event delivered an inspiring message to the room: we must always maintain the courage to dare to dream, because it is never too late to imagine a new future.
To bring this profound emotional narrative to life, the event’s technical complexity was immense, requiring advanced production management to ensure flawless sightlines for all attendees to the stage and to the multimedia content screens. Scope seamlessly coordinated high-stakes technical elements, including complex aerial-suspension setups, live musical performances, and instantaneous, live content feeds for award recipients as they were announced.
