As the long-term production partner of The Sapphire Project, Scope has been involved in designing, building, installing and managing every aspect of every Sapphire Dinner since 2021, an event that is now considered one of Australia’s leading philanthropic movements. In 2023, the theme of this stunningly beautiful and exclusive fundraiser was ‘electrified’, and the event was held at Eveleigh’s Carriageworks on World Oceans Day, 8th June.
Featuring a cocktail and champagne reception, live auctions, powerful performances, speeches, inspiring stories, and a bespoke dinner courtesy of Chef Josh Niland, the event was designed as a sensory-rich, immersive environment in which the ocean is the hero. We worked hard to balance what attendees saw, heard, felt and tasted, with the overarching theme of the night carried into every element.
Live performances throughout the night were paired with technically impressive light shows and soundscapes that complemented the works while delivering their own impact. A show-stopping LED wall at the far end of the site layout ensured visual depth from every seat, with sound elements finely tuned to each angle to ensure uniformity across the space.
Visuals that seemed to pour into the space, ocean-hued cocktails, state-of-the-art AV production, ethereal lighting and a colour palette that carried a powerful sense of drama and passion culminated in a night that raised millions of dollars and was talked about for months afterwards.
Meaningful, impactful, sustainable and inclusive, this is a night that champions the bigger picture and a commitment to drive cultural and ethical investment in the conservation of our coastlines and reefs.
Scope Productions was responsible for rigging, staging, AV, sound tech, draping, carpeting, soft furnishings, pre-event management, support crew, management for the event day, content creation, catering, florals, printing, entertainment (including performances), videography and photography – as well as administration, scheduling, logistics and artist liaison.
Our ongoing partnership with The Sapphire Project and the Great Barrier Reef Foundation is something we are deeply proud of. Together, we are able to create events that foster a powerful narrative, one that ensures the greatest philanthropic investment in ocean conservation in Australia.
